Arturo’s Sire Athlet Z {Almé Z x Gotthard} was bred at Zangersheide in 1979 and was sold as a colt to the legendary stallion rearer Maas Joh. Hell. There Athlet Z developed into a producer of many international showjumping horses, such as Adelfos (Markus Fuchs}, Almox Athletico (Ludger Beerbaum}, Valeska (Michael Rüping}, Sprehe Avion (Ludger Beerbaum} etc. In a study carried out by a top french breeder Athlet Z was ranked the 4th best stallion by progeny in his age category. This is very impressive considering he is in the same category as Darco, Voltaire and Libero H.

Arturo’s dam is by Lord out of Ramiro Z mare. Lord won the stallion approval in 1969 and quickly became a successful sire. In 1994 alone, his progeny won over 355,000 DM in Germany. Showing in the preliminary division in 1996, he had 49 out of 51 rounds clear. Sandstone Conway is an extraordinary horse that demonstrated carefulness and a winning spirit from the beginning. In 1997 he was the high point qualifier for the P.C.H.A. Jimmy William’s Futures Finals. He also won the $10,000 GMAC Mortgage Jumping Derby at Pebble Beach. Sandstone Conway is the winner of two Grand Prix. He is also an outstanding athlete as well as a top-breeding stallion. The third son of Wodka is Clearway by Capitol I who is an up and coming stallion in the Holstein studbook and has already achieved wide acclaim as both a jumper and a breeding stallion in Europe. In 2003 one of his offspring was entered into the Zangersheide auction at the World Breeding Championships.

Ramiro Z (Wodka`s maternal grand sire} needs no introduction; he was himself an international show jumper and one of the world’s most influential sires. Ramiro Z has sired many approved stallions; show jumpers, and international dressage horses. Offspring of Ramiro Z include Ratina Z, the winner of the Olympic team gold and individual silver in Barcelona and team gold in Atlanta.

Caretano Z

Caretano Z sire Caretino, is a son of the legendary breeding stallion Caletto II, one of the three products of Cor de la Bryère out of Deka. There were three Caletto brothers who have considerable influence in the Holstein studbook as well as Studbook Zangersheide breeding, in spite of the zig-zagging career of I and the tragically brief life of II. The eldest, Caletto I, started his career as a stallion in 1978 at studfarm Vornholz in Westfalia; he was not recognized by that studbook and only covered a few mares, but nevertheless produced a licensed stallion, Cartusch. Caletto I was bought back by the Holstein studbook and was stationed at Elmshorn in 1979. An accident when serving a mare seemed to put an end to his career as breeding stallion. Then he was started in the sport by Michael Rüping from 1980 to 1985, when he proved to be able to resume his breeding activities. His offspring is remarkable, both in the sport and in breeding. He sired Cantus (dam’s sire Roman} who has two licensed sons himself (Come On and Cascavelle} and produced famous sport horses such as Calvaro V, Come On and Callao W. He has more licensed sons in Holstein, but he is above all sire of Calvaro Z (dam’s sire Capitol I}, 13th in the 96/97 world-ranking under Jos Lansink and probably the best breeding stallion of Studfarm Zangersheide at the moment.

He has six excellent licensed sons in Holstein, one of which is Caretino. Besides Caretano, Caretino produced three further licensed sons, namely Casino and in the Netherlands Careful and Hidden Creek’s Cheerful At the moment Caletto II has seven International sport horses in the WBFSH ranking, including Olympic champion Classic Touch and Operette La Silla Caletto II is also sire of Calvin Z (out of the same dam as Cantus} who served for one season in Germany and who was bought by Studfarm Zangersheide in 1995.
