Zangersheide Service Prices

STUDBOOK ZANGERSHEIDE
LANAKEN

BREEDING SEASON 2012
SERVICE FEES AND CONDITIONS

I. Registration of mares
The mare to be inseminated has to be known to Studbook Zangersheide. Single (free) registration of the mare will be realised by providing Studbook Zangersheide with a clear copy of the ancestry papers of the mare. Registration for mares already registered with Studbook Zangersheide VZW is not necessary.

II. Breeding season
The breeding season runs from 15 February to 15 August 2012.

III. Procedure sperm
  1. Sperm from stallions stationed at Studfarm Zangersheide is obtainable in fresh sperm. The sperm can be collected or dispatched. When no fresh sperm is available, frozen sperm is similarly available, after consultation.
  2. For every dose of sperm delivered, the mare owner will receive a sperm
  3. Per mare sperm for a maximum of three cycles is supplied. If the mare is not in foal after three cycles, another stallion must be chosen, without having to pay a new deposit provided that this is a stallion with a similar stud fee. If the fee is higher, the difference should be settled. When you choose a stallion from a lower fee there will be no settlement of the difference.
  4. A dose of fresh or frozen sperm for a next cycle can only be obtained after the deposit of the payable stud fee has been paid and after the completed non-gestation statement (made by a vet) on the insemination certificate of the former dose of sperm has been returned. In case of frozen semen just one dose pro cycle can be obtained.
  5. The mare owner must send the last insemination certificate back before 1 October, stating on it whether the mare is in foal or not. Non-gestation statements can only be made by veterinarians. In the event that a breeder fails to report his mare not in foal, the gestation charge will automatically be due.
  6. Payment of stud fee.
The stud fee should be paid as follows:
    • the deposit must be paid upon first insemination;
    • the gestation charge is payable by 1 October 2012 if the mare is pregnant. The gestation charge = stud fee of last chosen stallion.
  7. By ordering and buying sperm, the mare owner declares to have taken cognizance of these conditions and declares to fully agree with these service and payment conditions, as well as with the stud fees.
IV. Service certificate
The mare owner must send the last insemination certificate, stating the last date of insemination, to the office of Studbook Zangersheide in Lanaken (B).

If the mare is in foal, the mare owner will then receive a service certificate/birth notification which states the last date of insemination. This document is essential for the notification and registration of the foal after birth in 2013.

V. Per dose sperm
For sperm per dose the next service conditions apply:
  1. This sperm is available on a per-dose basis and has to be paid in advance.
  2. The number of straws can differ per stallion. One dose will, however always contain at least the number of sperm cells required for one insemination.
  3. Per-dose of supplied sperm the mare’s owner will receive a sperm/insemination certificate.
VI. Embryo Transplantation
In the event that the owner wants the mare to have an embryo flush, Studbook Zangersheide should be so notified upon first ordering sperm. If no embryo(s) is(are) found, new sperm (for a maximum of 3 cycles) may be ordered for this mare, provided that a veterinary declaration from the embryo centre is submitted that confirms that the embryo flush after the previous insemination turned out negative. If the embryo flush turns out positive, a new deposit will become payable for a next sperm order for this mare.
If from one insemination more than one embryo is flushed, the advance will be charged as yet when the transplantation turns out positive.

The gestation charge shall become payable per successfully transplanted embryo if the mare is in foal by 1 October 2012. Note well: if the transplantation of the embryo has not proceeded successfully, the mare owner should so notify Studbook Zangersheide before 1 October 2012 by sending a non-gestation statement to be completed by a veterinarian.

If the mare’s owner attempts to commit fraud by denying the flushing of one or more embryos, the unconditional penalty shall be € 2500,- (ex. BTW) per case, besides the also payable stud fee.

It is only possible to make use of the Zangersheide guarantee plan if Studbook Zangersheide receives back the last insemination-certificate before the 1st of October 2012. This certificate needs to filled out by your vet. If a breeder in 2013 should then choose a stallion of a higher stud fee class, only the difference in stud fee will be charged. The gestation contribution that falls due when the mare is in foal, will always relate to the stud fee of the latest stallion used.

You can only make use of the Z guarantee plan following the year of purchase. You can only apply the guarantee plan on the gestation-construction.

Asca Z, a ‘jewel’ of a grey! Asca Z was licensed in November 2005 at the Holsteiner stallion selection in Neumünster where he impressed with his extraordinary showjumping potential and sport qualities. Sire Askari, when he was a 5-yr-old, won the reserve title in the German national Championship and made a deep impression with his fantastic technique. In addition, Askari has an interesting pedigree with Acord II (Ahorn Z x Calypso I), Lavall I (Landgraf I) in combination with a full sister of the famous Holsteiner stallions Calypso I, II, III, IV and V (Cor de la Bryère) from lineage 6582. Dam’s sire Carthago Z excels as a show jumping horse begetter and twice represented Studfarm Zangersheide at the Olympic Games, in Atlanta and Sydney. The dam’s line of Asca Z goes back via the valuable sport blood of Caletto II to the mare Nolde (Ladykiller xx) from the highly reputable Holsteiner lineage 730b. We know Nolde, amongst other things, as grandam of the famous Holsteiner stallion Carpaccio (Caretino) and the international show jumping horse Lenaro (Leuthen I) on which Bruce Goodin started in the Sidney Olympics. In addition, this family supplied more than 60 licensed stallions including Caletto I-III, Coronado, Gonzales en Le Grand I-III. Under Judy-Ann Melchior Asca Z is doing very well at international level in the light tour. In 2010 the combination finished among the best 15 in the finals for 7-yr-olds at the Young Horse WC.

Z stallions steal the show in Monaco

Only one horse kept its slate immaculately clear in the GCT of Monaco : Casall La Silla under Rolf Goran Bengtsson. After Hamburg, he also won the GCT Monaco. Christian Ahlmaan and Taloubet Z (Galoubet Z) also went clear, but had one time fault in the second round. This earned him the second place, for there was no other rider that managed to stay clear over both rounds. Zeta De Hus Z (Zandor Z x Atlantus Z) under European champion Kevin Staut had two jumping faults in the second round. Judy-Ann Melchior and Asca Z also scored remarkable results. This barely 8-yr-old Z stallion by Askari Z x Carthago Z had reached last year's WC finals for 7-yr-olds. In Balva he jumped his first GP last week, only had a slender time fault in the jump-off, which earned him a fourth place. In Monaco Asca Z jumped his second GP, a five star one, no less. The first time round he easily went clear, in the second he was a little tired and found it hard to concentrate, but we appreciate him for his powerful first round in his first five star Grand Prix.

CHAMPION DU LYS

Ludger Beerbaum won the Burg Stables Prix for 6/7/8-yr-olds at 1997 CSO Valkenswaard on Champion du Lys. Champion du Lys started his sport career in 1994 in Mexico by the name of Sinatra under young rider Joaquin Perez, who won two championships on him in the USA. As a 5-yr-old the Mexican international rider Gerardo Tazzer jumped the grey under his original name and won the Silver Cup and the Mexican Championship for young horses (plus a car). The following year Champion du Lys jumped 33 category 1.30m and 1.40m classes, of which he won 21. In Monterrey he was third in the Derby. As a 7-yr-old he jumped twelve classes in Mexico (seven wins) before moving to Europe. Tazzer won another 1.40m competition in Geesteren before the stallion was sold to the coach of the German dressage team, Madeleine Winter-Schulze, to be made available to Ludger Beerbaum. Champion's sire Laeken is state stud stallion of Saint Lô; he was born in 1977 out of a BWP mare (by Flügel, Han.) It is already remarkable that a stallion with his kind of pedigree - foreign warmblood - was licensed in France, but that he was also purchased by the French government is truly unique. Laeken has a jumping index (BSO) of +19 with a reliability of 91 percent. Champion's dam Karène du Lys has a breeding value of 116 (81 percent).

Cheerful Z - Show Jumping

Cheerful Z's sire Caretino is, like Calvin Z, by the superb jumping progenitor Caletto II. Caletto II supplied many top-class horses such as the '92 Olympic jumping champion Classic Touch (Ludger Beerbaum) and Operette La Silla (Jan Tops). Caretino, who jumped at international level himself under Bo Kristoffersen and later Ludger Beerbaum, has also been very successful in breeding. Dega (Johansson) and Ballerina are two of his products with international performances. Ballerina even earned a gold medal for the German team at the '97 Mannheim European Championship under Markus Merschformann. Dam Rheinrose is a daughter of Fabulus, who, like Farn, is a son of Fax I. Fabulus also sired the stallion Flamenco and we meet him again in the pedigree of the great mare Osterblume, who produced three international showjumping horses and several licensed stallions including Landfalk (Landgraf I), Camposanto (Carthago Z) and Pirano (Piaster). Cheerful Z jumped the 1997 and 1998 World Championships for Young Horses at Lanaken in the 6- and 7-yr-old categories and is presently doing very well at international level under Jos Lansink.
